Getting Started with Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG

The last few years have seen the RPG player base grow to the largest it’s ever been, and 2023 is turning out to be the year that many of those players are seeking out new player- and creator-friendly systems to run at their tables. There’s never been a better time to get started playing Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG.

If you're new to DCC, welcome to the Band. I've seen many people ask how to get started, so this guide is my advice. I’m gonna take two approaches here—read through both and decide what’s best for you and your table. This article is for would-be Judges out there, but must of my advice stands for players, too.

DCC #79 Frozen in Time - Module Review

Frozen in Time is a now-classic DCC RPG module, and one of the most reprinted and readily available adventures out there for the system. Its mix of classic fantasy with sci-fi elements in the vein of Keep on the Borderlands makes it a great throwback to the early days of RPGs. If desired, it also offers a transition into the world of Mutant Crawl Classics…

This is module #79 in the DCC line. Michael Curtis is the writer, with art by Doug Kovacs, William McAusland, Jeff Easley, and Stefan Poag. My group finished it in two sessions, so about 7 or 8 hours.

The rest of this post is intended for fellow judges running the adventure. If you’re a player, stop here to avoid ruining the surprise.
